“What an interesting, informative and sociable evening we had last night with local refurb specialist Clara Bee and MS Lighting at Gallery Midnight on Ritherdon Road. With the spotlight on lighting art in the home, often an afterthought in many a refurb project, the panel of local experts shared their knowledge and passion for creating beautiful homes. A standout moment was the difference between a basic led spot light and an in-frame light projector demonstrated on one of Jonny Reids fab artworks – totally astonishing. It also underlined how important it is to plan lighting in at the earliest stage possible.
Centred around lighting design, systems and solutions (which sounds hugely tech based – cue glazed expressions – but really wasn’t) Marcus Steffen of MS Lighting Design made the subject really interesting, accessible, informative and with live demos – fun! Trevor & Claire, our Clara Bee hosts, talked eloquently and practically about how to develop a realistic lighting plan at the very earliest stages of a refurb project and married with Marcus’s demos it all made perfect, practical sense. Gallery Midnight, featuring Johny’s eclectic range of original art, was the ideal venue for the evening as Marcus was able to clearly show the huge difference the right light can make to your home environment and your treasured possessions such as art. Such a fab raconteur, Johny was on hand too and talked about the very personal journey that selecting art for your home is.
I came away feeling really well informed as well as entertained. A great use of a couple of hours on a rainy Thursday night.”
