Renovating or redesigning a property should feel exciting.

Too often, it becomes overwhelming.

Conflicting advice.
Unclear costs.
Trades arriving without coordination.
Decisions made in haste – and regretted later.

A beautiful result requires more than good taste.
It requires structure, clarity, and experienced oversight.

The Clara Bee difference

Clara Bee is a family-run interior design and project management studio based in South West London.

For over 15 years, we have guided clients through property purchases, refurbishments, redesigns and long-term maintenance with calm expertise and considered creativity.

We are not simply designers.
And we are not just project managers.

We are both.

That combination is why our projects run smoothly and why our clients return.

Why choose Clara Bee?

Because beautiful ideas are only half the story.

Anyone can suggest paint colours.
Anyone can create a moodboard.

But:

  • Will they consider how the light changes throughout the day?
  • Will they coordinate contractors properly?
  • Will they manage timelines with discipline?
  • Will they protect your investment?
  • Will they still be available once the project is complete?

We will.

Every Clara Bee project is:

  • Carefully considered
  • Professionally managed
  • Personally overseen
  • Thoughtfully delivered

From single-room consultations to full refurbishments and commercial environments, we ensure the process feels steady, not stressful.

Our approach

We begin with listening.

  • We consider how you live.
  • How you work.
  • How you want the space to feel.

We then apply a structured process; combining design expertise, trusted contractors, and clear communication — to ensure every detail is aligned and every stage properly managed.

The result?

  • Spaces that feel effortless.
  • Projects that feel controlled.
  • Outcomes that last.

For those who value getting it right

Our clients choose Clara Bee because they value:

  • Long-term thinking over quick fixes
  • Refinement over trends
  • Clarity over confusion
  • Partnership over transactions

We become trusted advisors — not just suppliers.

And that is why much of our work comes through recommendation.

I couldn't be happier with the end result...

I have recently finished an extensive, 18 month, project with Clara Bee involving the full refurbishment (and extension) of the ground floor, exterior and garden of my house. I knew from early on that I wanted to work with Trevor and Claire – i’d spoken to Trevor previously about a smaller project, and while they weren’t involved in that, i knew that they were the right people for the bigger piece of work further down the road. The two most important things for me, particularly for such a lengthy project where you spend a lot of time together… you can’t help but get on with them, and you genuinely feel that they are as personally invested as you are in making your project as successful as possible…

For the interior design, more than anything Claire helped me make sense of my own ideas. I was relatively hands on, but somewhat of a novice and she helped me both experiment and make sensible decisions. Again, the attention to detail was terrific, and Claire is wonderfully tolerant of being dragged round various shops, looking at endless samples.

I couldn’t be happier with the end result, and that couldn’t have happened without Claire and Trevor’s support and expertise. They’re terrific fun to work with (very important over that length of time!), and are more than worth the investment. I would highly recommend Clara Bee.

The house was transformed!

My house that I had rented out for 16 years was incredibly dilapidated and grotty. I knew it was time to act. I was aware of Clara Bee’s reputation and so called upon Claire who came over and saw this sorry state of a house. She was full of ideas of how to maximise the real potential. I had thought that if I were to add an extra floor ceiling heights would be compromised. However when the extra floor was put in it was outstanding. No sloping ceilings, amazing wardrobes and a huge bathroom. The rest of the house was similarly transformed – a wonderful sitting room and a substantially extended kitchen.

Clara Bee project managed it all and recommended all the suppliers thereby removing stress and hassle for me. The end result is stunning.

The house was rented out almost immediately for 2.5 times what it had previously rented for.

I can’t recommend Clara Bee more highly, definitely a job well done.

Clara’s little black book was a lifesaver

Clara’s little black book of builders, electricians, plumbers and all-around home improvement know-it-alls was a lifesaver when we were redecorating our house ready for sale. We had very specific requests for the different rooms – she went through all of them with us, prompted us to about possible hitches or trouble spots, and helped convey those to the foreman so that everything went to plan. She’s always upbeat and optimistic, full of ideas and able to coax a little extra effort from our workmen while still leaving them smiling. They finished before schedule, leaving us wandering from room to room, admiring the results.

How do you choose an Interior Designer for your project?

Some people want a makeover to their home, they may have just moved or have lived with the same furnishings and décor for a number of years and want a change. Some clients want their new space created through an extension to have a specific look and feel. Some clients will willingly admit they they don’t have the first idea about how to start going about choosing a shade of white paint for a ceiling.

Some clients have ideas already about what they want, but don’t have the time to commit to sourcing all the fabrics furnishings, decorative accessories. We are passionate about design and form and keep up with all the latest trends and are constantly reviewing samples from a large number of suppliers.

The most important thing is to have a connection and a personal and positive relationship between the Client and the Interior Designer.

Do you have a particular style?

You will see that there are a number of modern and contemporary style projects on our website but the skill of a good interior designer is understanding what their client hopes to achieve, what styles colours and ideas they like, how the home or room will be used and find the right style for that client. We relish the chance to cover any type of style, whether it is traditional, alternative, uber modern, minimalisitic, or totally just individual and personal to you.

What do you charge?

For both Project Management and Interior Design projects once you have contacted us, we arrange to meet you and discuss the particular requirements of your project. This meeting is for an hour and is completely free, we find this is the best way to really get to know you and what you want, and for you to see whether our ideas and methods of working will be a match with you, this is a personal relationship and we want it to work as well as possible for you.

After we have had this meeting we will submit our proposal to you with our terms and conditions. Once this is signed we then formally start working for you.

The fee structure is explained at the one hour initial meeting. For Project Management broadly it’s a percentage of the overall project cost.

What to think about before I meet you?

We want to make this meeting as constructive as possible so please have any of the following ready:
Any planning permissions – the plans, consents and any conditions:

Photos or examples (magazine cut outs etc) of anything that you like

Please have a think about any time constraints – house moves, new babies arriving, holidays, time spent abroad on work etc.

Please have a think about your realistic budget, and how you can finance this over any suggested project timescale.

Where this project may fit in with other work you are planning – e.g. if you are planning a garden redesign with a deck leading from the house in 18 months time we will need to factor in foundation and drainage work around a kitchen extension.

Details of any of your preferred contractors already – e.g. an architect you have used, builders carpenters etc.

How do the contracts work?

Once we have had our Initial Meeting we send you our proposal and our terms and conditions. These are all a little different depending on whether what you need is an Interior Design Consultancy Service, full [Interior Design Services] or Project Management Services, or a combination of any of these. No client is the same and no project is the same.
